Wardrobe

In the bedroom, a wardrobe was created from kitchen cabinets and two wardrobes from the flat that is the origin of the entire project. The kitchen cabinets are rotated to lay flat and given a door or drawers. The hinges and drawer slides were taken from the original kitchen. The fronts consist of multiply from an exposition wall. The many layers of different colour paint that have accumulated over years of expositions are revealed by sanding unevenly. The source of this material is Buurman.

A mirror in a picture frame occupies a nook.

Come to think of it, it's a lot Bruynzeel originals put together in an unusual way

Stools

With the Klushuis project concluded it's time to catch up by sharing some results.

For some simple seating, I combined some multiply flooring with a memory of the AA Stool designed by Torafu architects. This stool is much less sophisticated in form and materialisation. But the dimensions were carefully chosen to make the most of the available material and provide a comfortable seat.

Everywhere, non stop

Placed the carpet today and the laminate flooring. Kitchen remains to be done.

Then continued in the office workshop for an evening session. A productive one. Shaped the table top, finished sanding the legs and made domino connections in the stools to attach the seat  and fix some alignment issues. Got to love the domino and it's reference pins!

Sanding the legs. The rotex 90 was out of it's element on the surface of the table top. Embarrassed, but brave. But on the table legs is where it shines.

move, cut, move, sand, move, finish, keep moving

Even when there are few errands to run and it looks like a straightforward day of production, I still spend most of my time moving about. It is just impossible to gain any momentum. At all.

win some, lose some

Collected material for the wardrobe fronts at Buurman today. So far my relationship with Buurman has been somewhat rough. First time, my job application was rejected, second time I left needing stitches to my ear and today I drove 200km only to find out the material I'd ordered wasn't there. But in the end, every visit ends with a smile, because everything works out in the end. One way or another.

Then got some used carpet from Mundiat in Kelpen.

Previously, this week, I've been assembling more parts of the dinner table.

Monday the fabrication of stools started. As well as making standard kitchen cupboards narrower than they normally are. Because for some unimaginable reason the architect of this building made everything off standard. !@#$%^&*

Workshop day 2

Started early to deal with the sunniest April weekend ever. Much work has been done. In a more or less organized chaos. Six projects completed. And many firsts conquered!

Workshop day 1

Super sunny day with much energy and discovery. Very impressed with the students' speed of decision making and the willingness to go all in on something so unfamiliar.

Table top final glue up

Thanks to the clamps provided by Tim Stoot of Tim's meubels, I managed to speed things up a lot.

Transition from kitchen to wardrobe

Preparing standard kitchen blocks to accommodate drawers. The table glue-up could really benefit from more and larger clamps.

Parts for table legs

This weekend I produced wood dust and also assisted in the assembly of a neighbours' wardrobe. Interesting modern furniture joinery. From a time when a hand screwdriver was modern. And, completely unexpectedly, came home from a visit to Köln with mattresses, rugs and missing parts to complete a bed. And most importantly insight and ideas. Unfortunately, didn't find extra time. Advice on where to find extra time lying idle, please let me know!

Tafelblad

Én sleutel carbon6 in ontvangst genomen.

Daarbij, het meest persoonlijke neemt men mee.
